Print Design & Production
I spent the majority of my career, over 25 years, in some aspect of the printing industry. Working for Commercial printers, Business Forms Printers and finally, Direct Mail Marketing printers, I've seen just about everything. Starting my career in the production side, I eventually moved up through pre-press and eventually into marketing. The marketing department is where I really began to produce a high-volume of designs for print. Simultaneous to my full-time career in these printing companies, I ran a freelance design agency through which I did many more print design projects for Central Ohio based companies. This section of my site will give you a taste of some of the print-related projects I have worked on... but, don't expect to see much more in here as print is no longer an area of graphic design that I care to continue in.

Logo Design
While logo design is not actually "print design" I decided to include it here as there's not a better place to put it! Actually, many of my print projects start right here.

Companies often came to me wanting to start a new print campaign simultaneous to launching a new brand or company look. Therefore, everything starts with a new logo, colors and overall brand facelift. Here are just a few samples of some of my logo work.

Brochures / Collateral
From standard marketing brochures to single-ply sell sheets or even small flyers and inserts, I have done just about every type of printed collateral there is over the years.

Much has been for my "full-time" employers but quite a bit of it was for my personal freelance customers. I always try to bring a new creative look and "outside-of-the-box" approach to my print designs but often time the designated budget determines the direction the project must go.

In addition to the actual graphic design, I often do photography and copy writing when the job calls for it. I also handle all the print production quoting, procurement and press checks on virtually every job I do.

The images at left don't even begin to scratch the surface of the scope and number of print projects I have done, but they give you a good idea of what my designs often look like.

Direct Mail
Direct Mail... now there's something I have a lot of experience in. Over a 12 year period I worked for 3 of the biggest players in the direct mail marketing industry... Communicolor, R.R. Donnelley & Sons, and Moore Wallace Response Marketing.

During this time, I not only designed their web sites and marketing collateral, but did a great deal of direct mail design. These are some of the most complex projects I have worked on as they involve advanced personalization processes and very complex manufacturing methods to produce a wide variety of formats from pop-ups to sliders.

With run quantities that often reach multi-millions, designing direct mail can be a nerve-wracking experience as the liability is quite daunting.

Here are just a few examples of some of my past direct mail projects.

Future Examples

You probably won't ever see any new examples in this section of the site as I have left the printing industry in my past. All my work now is for electronic delivery platforms so the only type of print I ever do now is the occasional banner or poster for Holophane, which are generally "one-off" types of projects.
